Avartsy.com is live!
Yes, yes, yes! After months and months and months of development, I am pleased to announce Avartsy.com is officially launched!
AVARTSY is a guide that seeks to empower consumers in their search to find the best places to eat, drink, stay and play when it comes to African establishments in the food, leisure, travel and hospitality industries in the US, Africa and internationally and to encourage said establishments to offer the best possible food, service and experience.
It took me quite a few months to come up with a succinct description for what the site entails! Drafting and editing, till I felt I captured the essence I wanted to convey. So, for every time you’ve been to that Nigerian restaurant where you ordered Fried Rice and received White Rice, for every time you’ve been to an African restaurant and received shoddy service or found something in your food that was NOT supposed to be there and that situation was not properly managed, for every time you went to an African hotel and didn’t have clean towels to use or a filthy bathroom, for every time you visited an African night club and got robbed, sexually harassed or felt security was inadequate, for every time you went to an African attraction e.g movie theater and it was dirty, unorganized with electrical problems, please let Avartsy.com be your venting ground.
We don’t get anywhere by sitting down and just complaining, we have to actively participate if we want to see change. Whatever the unacceptable current standing is should not be the accepted status quo because ‘well, there’s nothing I can do.’ Oh no, there IS something you can do and that’s where Avartsy.com comes in.
That said, we are not in the business of bashing these establishments, but we strive to hold them to a better standard than we have previously received and if there are establishments that are doing great, we’re happy to continue to encourage them. Why spend your hard earned money somewhere only not to be fully satisfied?
I have other aspects I want to expand into for the site, but I want to do some more market research and will keep those under wraps until they are ready to be added to the current lineup.
I plan to introduce a rewards system, where Avartsy.com users will get rewarded for interacting with the site and forum. This will not just be limited to standard giveaways, but a more comprehensive and tangible rewards system. It was supposed to launch with the site, but there are some kinks, so down the line, that will be launched.
Please rest assured that I will not be abandoning AvartsyCooking, I have said before and it bears repeating, that for as long as I have to eat, I will need to cook and if I’m cooking, there’s no reason not to take photos! I dey kampe, not going nowhere!
As you love and actively participate on AvartsyCooking, I’d love to see the same level of support on Avartsy. There is always a learning curve, but once you get used to it, please be all over it like white on rice, add new listings, leave a review, support us on social media, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g!
